GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (GNM)

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. He/she must have completed 12th grade with a minimum of 40% from any recognized board. Candidates from the State Open School and the National Instituteof Open School (NIOS) are eligible to apply. However, science is preferable.
  2. He/she must obtain 40% marks in the vocational ANM course from the school recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  3. He/she must obtain 40% of marks in vocational stream health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre.
  4. He/she must have a registered ANM certificate with a pass mark
  5. The candidates should be medically fit
  6. The minimum age requirement for admission is 17 years (as of 30th December of that year), while the upper age limit is 35 years.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals:

  • The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, the State Nursing Council will be responsible for ensuring that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above.

Reservation Policy:

  • For disabled candidates – 3% disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotors to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity. Other eligibility criteria concerning age and qualification will be the same as prescribed for each nursing program                                                                                  Note: A committee will be formed consisting of a medical officer and a nursing expert authorized by the Medical Board of the State Government. This panel will assess whether the candidates have a disability of locomotor of 40% to 50%. 
  • A relaxation of 5% applies to candidates belonging to the SC/ST candidates.
  • Any other quotas as per the State Govt. under the reservation policy
    Note: Quotas shall be included in the seats sanctioned and not above it.

BACHELOR OF NURSING (B.Sc)

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The minimum age requirement for admission is 17 years (as of 30th December of that year), while the upper age limit is 35 years.
  2. Minimum Educational Qualification                           
    a)
    He/she must have completed 12th grade (Science Stream) with a minimum of 45% marks in physics, chemistry, and biology combined, and have individually passed in English.
    b) Candidates who have studied Science and English subjects through the State Open School and the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) are eligible to apply.
    c) To be eligible for the BSc program, the applicant must have completed 12th grade with English subjects.
  3. Candidates with color blindness are eligible to apply provided they wear color-corrective contact lenses and spectacles.
  4. The candidates should be medically fit.
  5. The married candidates are also eligible for admission.
  6. The selection of candidates should be based on the merit of the entrance examination. The Entrance test** shall comprise of:
    a) Aptitude for Nursing – 20 marks
    b)Physics – 20 marks
    c) Chemistry – 20 marks
    d) Biology – 20 marks 
    e) English – 20 marks

The minimum qualifying marks for the entrance test shall be 50% marks

The start of the semester shall be 1st August every year.

**Entrance test shall be conducted by the University/State Government.

Reservation Policy

For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the minimum required marks in three core subjects shall be 40%, whereas for General category candidates, it remains the same (45%)

MASTER OF SCIENCE (M.Sc)

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
  2. The minimum education requirement is the completion of BSc Nursing / BSc Hons. Nursing / Post-Basic BSc nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
  3. The candidate should have undergone in B.Sc. Nursing /B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institution that is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  4. The candidate must have one year of work experience after the completion of BSc Nursing.
  5. The candidate should be medically fit.
  6. A relaxation of 5% applies to candidates belonging to the SC/ST candidates.

Entrance/Selection test

The selection of the candidates will be based on the merit of the entrance examination held by the University or competent authority

Regulations for examination:

To be eligible to appear for the examination, students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance for both theory and practical sessions. However, full attendance (100%) for practical sessions is required before the degree is awarded.
